H1N1 Flu Vaccine:
Pediatric Associates recommends that
children receive both the seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccines. Whereas
we do have a supply of seasonal flu vaccine, we are awaiting distribution
of the H1N1 vaccine by the NYC Department of Health.
Since we have no timetable for receiving
the H1N1 vaccine, we encourage parents to have their children immunized
at school whenever the vaccine is offered. Both the intranasal live
attenuated virus vaccine and the injectable killed virus vaccine
are acceptable. (Asthmatics should not receive the intranasal vaccine.)
Another avenue of immunization may be your local pharmacy. The Department
of Health has chosen to prioritize distribution to pharmacies over
physician offices. Below you will find a link to the NYC flu website
that will indicate where vaccine is available. We will inform you
on this site when we receive H1N1 vaccine.

The recall of Sanofi Pasteur’s
H1N1 vaccine for children age 6 months to 3 years did not include
any lot numbers that were distributed to Pediatric Associates of
NYC.
Update - December 1, 2009:
At this time we have both the H1N1
and Seasonal flu vaccines available. We are once again scheduling
for second doses of the seasonal flu vaccine as well as 1st time
recipients of either vaccine (Novel H1N1/Seasonal Flu). Hours have
been selected for administering the vaccines beginning December 1st
through December 18th. Please call the office to schedule an
appointment.
